The Animal Song (Promo Video 1982) |
The original and the best! A truly weird video...
the band are dressed in white leotards and masks, Geoff bites into a big
piece of raw bloody meat, and the band turn into some kind of reptiles!
Has even been featured in an episode of 'Beavis and Butthead'! See this
clip on YouTube: |

Old Grey Whistle
Test
(BBC TV Sept 1982) |
An energetic
and spirited performance of The Animal Song on this famous BBC TV
music show. The band are dressed in the white suits and masks from the
Animal Song promo video. The audience look more than a little bemused
by it all! |

Recognition (Promotional Video 1983) This was the only other full promo video made by europeans. The video is set around a happenin' 1980s disco and follows each band member in and around the club, with Colin Woore dressed as a biker. See this clip on YouTube: |

The Tube (Channel 4 UK TV 1984) Tracks: American People / Innocence / Tunnel Vision |
The quality is excellent, and performance lively and energetic.
In the middle section of Tunnel Vision, Hogarth gets to grips with a fire
extinguisher, spraying it over the audience. |

Sight & Sound (BBC TV February 1984) Tracks : (warm-up / sound tests) American People / Going to Work; (broadcast set) Introduction / Typical / Spirit Of Youth / American People Innocence / Falling / Joining Dots / A.E.I.O.U. / Animal Song; (non-broadcast songs) Tunnel Vision / Writing for Survival |
This 45 minute concert from Cheltenham Golddiggers was
broadcast simultaneously on BBC2 and Radio One. I have yet to see the
video footage, but the audio is pretty much identical to the performances on
the Live album. |

Rockpalast (German TV 05/07/1984) Tracks: Typical / Spirit of Youth / American People / Burning
Inside You / Innocence / Love has Let me down / Joining Dots / AEIOU / Animal
Song / Tunnel Vision / Falling |
Filmed at Markthalle Hamburg. Again, the performance is
spirited and animated. Burning Inside You is sung with occasional German lyrics,
else this is pretty much a video version of the official "Live" LP.
Contains a short biography of the group (In German!) |

The Metropole, Berlin (German TV 1984) |
A clip from a German television show called "Dr
Mambo" in 1984, this starts with an interview with a weary Ferg and
Steve, then includes a promo video for You Don't Want Me (In Your Life)
filmed at the Metropole in Berlin. A good performance video. |

Acid Rain (French TV 1985) |
A moody performance filmed for a French TV show 'Midi
Public in early 1985. Geoff and Ferg play keyboards in the background,
while Colin and Steve take centre stage for a fairly straight run-thru of
this 'Recurring Dreams' album track. See this clip on YouTube: |
